Understanding Joint Pain and Osteoarthritis
Sep 5, 2019When your joints are in so much pain that you can no longer function in everyday life, you likely want answers and options. At Lakewood Regional Medical Center, we’ve got the board-certified physicians to help answer your questions.
What is Osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis is arthritis that is found in the joints. As one of the main culprits for joint pain, osteoarthritis will be one of the things examined by your physician. An X-ray will show the extent of the arthritis in the joint.
Isn’t the pain something I just have to live with?
As a treatable medical condition, joint pain caused by arthritis should be addressed as soon as possible by a qualified physician at LRMC. Many patients accept that joint pain is a part of aging and something they just have to live with when, in reality, they could be receiving treatment that could restore their active lifestyles.
How can I learn more?
We invite you to join us in a free public education seminar taking place at Lakewood Regional Medical Center at 3700 E. South Street in Lakewood.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Elias Ramy will be discussing the surgical, as well as the non-surgical, treatment options available for joint pain.
“Joint pain can be debilitating and a terrible thing to have to live with,” said Dr. Ramy. “I’d like to offer hope to these patients because not only is it often treatable, but the outcomes are usually positive and the potential impact on the quality of life is a motivating factor.”
State-of-the-art surgical options
At Lakewood Regional Medical Center, we are proud to offer you some of the latest advancements in surgical options. Dr. Ramy will discuss the MAKO® Surgical System and how it can be used to treat osteoarthritis in the joints.
