Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Helping monitor your heart

Using the latest in digital imaging technology, the team in the Lakewood Regional Medical Center cardiac catheterization lab assists your heart surgeon in diagnosing, evaluating and monitoring problems with the heart.

During catheterization, the surgeon guides a catheter, a small tube-like device, through your arteries to the coronary arteries. Once the catheter is in place, your surgeon can take images to assess the structure and function of your heart. The catheter can also be used for a number of therapies and treatments, such as atrial fibrillation ablation, coronary stent placement, atrial septal defect closures and angioplasties.
