Blood test markers
These tests are often used in patients with cancer or tumors to help determine cancer activity throughout the body. Cancers and tumors often produce a protein in the blood that can serve as a marker for the cancer as well as other disease.
A type of bone density test, this scan uses dual-energy X-rays to perform enhanced images of the bone. This scan is often performed on the lower spine and hips.

This type of test is a scan often ordered when a doctor suspects osteoporosis. It examines the density of bones and determines whether an individual has weak bones.
